Open and close the cash register

Open the register with your opening float, add or remove cash during the day, and close it at the end of a shift to see any difference.

Every POS sale goes into an open cash register, so you always know how much cash should be in the drawer. Each cashier opens a register at the start of a shift and closes it at the end.

Open the register

  1. Sign in to the POS. If no register is open, you are taken to Cash Register.
  2. Click Open Register.
  3. Count the cash in the drawer, enter it as the Opening Amount and click Save.
  4. Go to Sales Screen and start selling.

Add or remove cash during the day

Record cash that comes in or goes out for anything other than a sale, so the closing count matches.

  1. Open Cash Register.
  2. Click Add Cash or Remove Cash (on the retail POS: Cash In or Cash Out).
  3. Choose the type: Other income or expense, a payment to a Supplier, or money from a Customer paying off credit.
  4. Enter the amount and a short note, and save.

Close the register

  1. Click Close Register in the menu.
  2. EasySell shows the Estimate Closing Float: the cash that should be in the drawer.
  3. Count the drawer and type it into Enter Amount in Hand. The Difference shows any shortage or extra.
  4. Save to close the register. You must close it before you can log out.

Check past shifts

Cash Reports lists every register with the cashier, opening and closing amounts, difference, and opening and closing time. Open one to see its entries.
